cha 2015 cathie and steve mod podge

It’s that time of year when craft retailers, craft companies and designers all get together for a MAJOR convention!  Steve and I have been attending CHA for 10 years and every year we learn something new from our excellent craft community.  This year we have new products launching and we have BIG scoop on the Mod Melter!!!!

If you are attending CHA, please pop by the Plaid booth and say hi!  We will be doing Wish Jar “make and takes” all day long!

Creating glittered Champagne glasses is super easy with Dishwasher safe Mod Podge!  Yep you can wash them in your dishwasher!!! (top rack only and they do have a cure time)  But hey this is pretty “breakthrough” for crafting and DIY.  Have a peek at the video below to see how we whipped up these sparkly glasses.

Gift Wrapping with ToGo Boxes Altered with Mod Podge

to go box gift wrapping ToGo boxes are one of my favorite ways of gift wrapping.  The boxes are inexpensive and small making them perfect for little gifts.  To alter them with Mod Podge it is super easy!  You just need a little paper and Mod Podge.

Begin by trimming your paper to fit the front of the box.

Apply Mod Podge to the back of the paper and to the front of the box.

Place the paper on the front of the box and smooth any wrinkles with your fingers.

Allow to dry and then top-coat with more Mod Podge.

Add more embellishments!  For this design I added a little rick-rack scarf, some snowflake trim and some snowflake rhinestones.

How to Marbleize Ornaments for Christmas

how to marbleize ornaments

Marbleizing ornaments is as easy as pie with this super simple technique.  This is a great craft to do with kids or a large group because a little paint goes along way.

marbalized ornamnet

What you need:

White Pearl Paint
Red Metallic Paint
Glass Ornament Ball
Paper Cup
Sparkle Ribbon

Remove the topper from the ornament and set aside. Pour a small amount of Cardinal Red and Pearl White into the ornament.

Gently swirl and tap the paint around until the colors begin to blend. Be sure the entire inside is coated.
Place the ornament upside down in a paper cup. Allow the excess paint to drain. As the ornament dries, turn the ball a few times to evenly distribute the paint.

Let dry overnight. Replace the topper and add a ribbon hanger.

Tip: Add more colors! Use up to 5 different colors to create a more old world marbled look.
