What you need:
Mason jar
Mod Podge ® Sheer Color – Pink, 4 oz.
Mod Podge ® Matte, 8 oz.
Valentine paper
Scissors
Foam Paintbrush
Mod Podge ® Mod Melts – White Milk Glass
Mod Podge ® Mod Molds – Flowers
FolkArt ® Extreme Glitter™ – Hologram, 2 oz.
Hot glue
Rhinestones
Diamond trim
Silk flowers

Instructions

Always begin by cleaning and drying your mason jar.

Swirl Method: Pour Sheer Color Mod Podge into the jar. Swirl the Sheer Color around the inside until it covers all the sides. Turn the jar upside down into a paper cup and let the excess drizzle out of the jar. Allow it to sit for 10 hours. Turn the jar over and allow it to dry until the color is clear. Use a craft knife to trim off any excess around the rim.

Cut a design from Valentine scrapbook paper. Apply Mod Podge Matte to the back of the paper, position onto the front of the mason jar. Press with your fingers to remove any air bubbles. Top coat the image and the entire mason jar with Mod Podge Matte. Allow to dry.

Create the Mod Melt Flowers by heating a Mod Melt stick in a high-temp hot glue gun. Squeeze the melt into the small rose mold. Allow the melt to cool for 7 min. Remove the melt from the mold.

To finish the rose Mod Melt, paint the melt with a coat of Extreme Glitter Hologram.

Hot glue diamond mesh ribbon around the neck of the jar, a Mod Melt rose to the front of the jar and rhinestones around the rose. Fill the vase with silk flowers.

TIP: Add clip art, monograms or computer printed words to make it personalized.

DIY: Valentine Candy or Gift Box with Altered Cherubs

Valentine Gift Box with Altered Cherubs
Here are some new cuties in the shop.  They are perfect for altering with paints, inks and glitter.  Please visit the materials list at the end of the post for all the items used.
Begin by painting the cherubs with gold paint.  For this design I used 3 coats of FolkArt Gold paint.
Next, I applied Mod Podge with a detail brush to the areas I wanted to glitter.
Sprinkle with glitter.
Paint a paper box with the same gold paint.
To finish off the box, I Mod Podged a piece of paper to the top of the box.  (BTW – the paper is a sneak peek at our new line of papers – Summer 2012) Next, I hot glued the cherub to the top of the box and I added gems to the top.  Lastly, I hot glued a strip of metallic ribbon around the edge of the lid of the box.

Altered Valentine Candy Box with Mod Podge and Chipboard Letters

valentine candy box

Someone named Eddie is in for a sweet treat this Valentine’s day… 🙂  He is a total chocoholic.

The candy box started as a child’s design.  First I traced around the lid of the box onto some cute Valentine paper.  This paper was in the dollar spot at Target.

Next, I coated the box with a layer of Mod Podge.

Next, I positioned the paper onto the box.  Smoothed the paper with my fingers to remove any air bubbles.  Waited 15 min. Top-coated with a layer of Mod Podge.  Smoothed my brushstrokes.  Waited for it to dry.

I hot glued “EDDIE” across the center.

Valentine Onesie for Baby in Under 15 min.

baby onesie valentines day diy craft

You can easily whip up a Valentine tee for baby in less than 15 min.  Really you can!  Both designs are from my book, 101 Snappy Fashions.  You can check out the book at Barnes and Noble.

For the pink design, I used a rhinestone heart iron-on.  So simple.  The other design was a vintage Valentine greeting that I scanned, printed on ink-jet transfer paper and ironed to the front of the snap suit.

Make it: Valentine Altered Candy Boxes
